About Brittany
Hi! I’m Brittany, your virtual bookkeeper and the creative behind Strathcona Bookkeeping. I’m so glad to be connecting with you in this space!
Vancouver Island, BC is where I call home with my husband Justin, daughter Emerson, son Jayden, and our dog Lana. It is here among the forest, the ocean, the waterfalls, and the rural landscape that my heart and soul come most alive. It is where I pull my inspiration from, and where the roots for which my business have been laid.
What it looks like
To Work Together
We utilize cloud based accounting software which enables us to connect wherever there is an internet connection. Bank feeds are enabled to automatically download bank and credit card transactions. Applications such as Dext are used to scan and upload your receipts for processing, and though it’s always an honour to meet in person it is never required as Zoom allows us to meet without ever having to be in the same place! Empowering you as the business owner is our ultimate goal and we strive to make this experience approachable, streamlined, and enjoyable.
Our Origins
How We Came to Be
I came to bookkeeping interestingly enough quite unintentionally actually, through a local serving job a few years out of highschool. The owners needed some help entering data into their accounting software. Fast forward to the next year, and I began working as an Administrative Assistant for a growing construction company, again organically migrating into the accounting realm as I took on the data entry overflow in their Accounts Payable department.
Little did I know that would be the beginning of a 9 year career and my first management role where I went on to lead an amazing team of 8 individuals. During that time and the years that followed, I graduated with my business certificate, held various roles in different industries, gained valuable knowledge in accounting, government compliance, legislation, multi jurisdiction tax legislation, payroll, and more. I also gained a work ethic and rapport of which I was, and still am very proud of.
Why did i start?
In 2019 I gave birth to our daughter and it was clear in the months leading up to, and that followed, I craved a more fluid environment where flexibility was at the forefront of my days. I was also getting really curious about my creative side and what that might amount to if put into action. I had always adapted and been happy to adapt, but my mind kept coming back to “what could my life look like if I woke up every day and chose to lead from my heart”?
Hence, Strathcona Bookkeeping was born.
